Dear All.
A couple of days ago now, I managed to finally locate the reason why, my
daughters 1999 1.4 8v Saxo automatic was only running on 3 cylinders after
I had had the head skimmed and rebuilt and refitted the cylinder head etc.
I fitted a brand new coil pack and new spark plugs, to go with the new leads
( that it needed anyway ) It was then that I noticed from the new sparkplugs
that it was no. 2 cylinder that was not firing. This was due to the electrical
wiring block connector on the injector, had " missed " the terminals and had
" bent " them flat. I have since removed all the injectors again and this fault
has now been satisfactorily sorted, and the car is now running on all four
cylinders now.
However I have had play around with the cambelt timing, as the car was
" hunting " and not starting very well either. I still have the cambelt covers
still " off " as I am still not happy with the way the car is not starting and the
way the car is running. The car needs quite alot of throttle to start and was
relunctant to even idle at all, I have to take the drastic step of using the
idle screw on the throttle body. On choke the car is racing away and off the
choke barely ticks over. I have checked the inlet manifold for leaks etc and
there are non.
I am really at a loss to think what else I will have to renew next on this
job. I have already cleaned the idle air valve and the throttle body with carb
cleaner prior to putting the head back together.
Any help/advice would be very very gratefully received, many thanks
Vince.
