saxo idle not ICV! (with video)

Hi guy's I’m a bit puzzled at the moment.

Had some low idle issues when waiting at traffic lights (400rpm's) so I changed the idle control valve. Seemed to work fine but my little 1.1 still seems to fluctuate a bit. Pretty annoying, because It vibrates trough the steering wheel.

    Anny idea's?

Changed the spark plugs, fuel filter, air filter, idle control valve, runs on ron 98 fuel.....

    All the help is appreciated

    Bump..

    Map sensor?
  4. #4
Air leak,or coil pack plus try changing the fuel filter too.

My mates Rallye just had this issue and it turned out to be a vacuum hose was split

Thanks guy's will check the vacuum hoses.

    Fuel filter has been changed.
Map sensor could be the problem, how can I check if it's still working?

Would an air leak cause flat spots?

have you tried to speed up the idle by adjusting the throttle screw?
If you have and voltage at tps is incorrect then the idel control will be disabled --it will think you are on light cruise + not at idle
tps voltage should be less than 0.65 volt on idle

dammit, its back Went for gas this afternoon and since then the idle drops are back. Could it be the fuel pump? I've changed the fuel filter since then it got worse. Or may be the crankshaft sensor? Any tips?

Any update? Hope you have got the problem solved. Im having a go at fixing the same problem today

Clean all the sensors with carb cleaner and try again, have you bled the coolant?
  11. #11
Alternator or battery on its way out. I had the same problem the week changed both battery and alternator and now idles spot on

    Ok guy's its getting worse,

Its idling low and juddering, I've cleaned the throttlebody, idle control valve, changed the spark plugs and ht leads, fitted a new air filter and fuel filter, changed the coolant. I'm running out of idea's.

    Any ideas??

As said above check your battery/alternator is correct voltage with a multimeter. If voltage is low/not constant this can cause the idle speed to fluctuate. Battery should be around 12.6v when fully charged and closer to 14.4v when engine is running.

Voltages: engine off 12.4V, engine on 14.2V

Seems ok by me? Car runs great besides the low idle. Could it be the coolant sensor? It does not specifically occur when the engine is hot or cold. Either that or the lambasensor?

    You changed the map sensor?

Made a massive difference on mine.

Does an hdz engine have a map sensor? Where is it located? On the throttle body?

the green or blue looking sensor on the TB is map sensor,
    thing id do:
is unplug battery for 30 min - hour

Take the car for a drive with the heater fan on full, lights on and back demister on as well.

You need to find a strait road and hold the car at about 3k rpm whilst driving this is supposed to setup the ICV

I remember doing this when i replaced mine and the problem came back and it sorted it ...
