Petrol, 8v. base idle settings ?

    Dear All.
As you know, I have just been renewing the head gasket etc.etc. on my
    daughters 1999 1.4 8v multi-point Saxo auto.
After a few teething problems she is running really nicely now
However, the very " faulty " coolant temperature sensor for the E.C.U,
which was upsetting the idle so much. I had to begrudgingly adjust the base
idle screw, in order to get the car to idle at all.
Apart from cleaning the idle air valve, throttle body etc etc. I have not
moved or adjusted anything else, ie throttle potentiometer etc.
After renewing the faulty temp sensor, after road testing the car I feel
    that there doesn,t appear to be enough of a " fast-idle "
Therefore, I was wondering if anyone can advice me on how to properly
set up the " base " idle settings etc.
    Many-thanks.
    Vince.

    Dear All.
    Sorry I don,t know how/if I can " edit " my posts as yet.
To further my previous thread on the " base " idle settings. If by adjusting
the idle screw, this isn,t linked to the " fast " idle. Is there any " electronic "
    sensors that are ?
    Many-thanks.
    Vince.

There are many sensors that will affect the idle, i have no clue about the base idle setting, but can you put it back to its original position? If so then do that, and if the idles still dodgy. Then let us know. However if you've changed the coolant temp sensor then it should be fine.

the both idles are controlled by the ecu. so there is no adjustment on them at all on a multi point injection system. unsure about the single point.

the fast idle on a cold engine should be around 1250 rpm on the rev counter.
slow idle is around 750 rpm.
did you change the correct sensor there are two for the cooling side. one for the gague and one for the ecu.
