Important! : Overheating Problems

    Hi guys,

Iv just not long since bought a Citroen Saxo SX P reg

Pretty much ever since this iv had various things going wrong

Firstly it was a leak in the inner manifold where a core plug had eroded, i had this fixed by a mechanic friend by replacing the rusty one and putting in two more core plugs. Then they fixed it back into place and everything seemed well. However the day after I was making a short 10 min journey and the red overheating light came on faintly at first but got brighter so I stopped.
Had it looked at again and got told it was probably either the thermostat or head gasket!!!

So now the thermostat has been replaced, however the car still seems to be running very hot and loosing more water than it probably should be but theres no red light coming on. There also seems to be alot of combustion/air in the system.
    Head gasket???
There is no white discharge in the oil so doesnt look like its mixing and the heaters blow out hot air.

    Any advice??
Not sure what to do as the car only cost £300 and iv been told the head gasket may cost the same amount again

    Thanx in advance

Is it loosing water gradually or all at one go. Reason i ask, is my motor done this when the radiator cap wasn't working properly and wasn't holding the pressure and water was getting out via the overfill hole. Only a hunch, but could be that. Also try draining the system, and bleeding it properly and see where you are after that.

gradually, the system has already been drained and blead.

Get the cooling system pressure tested.
