Any advice ?

    Dear All.
This afternoon ( only 4 days after me doing all the cylinder head work etc
etc. ) on my daughters 1999 Saxo 1.4 automatic. The car broke-down again
whist driving uphill, with no reverse and also no drive either. The ( already too
familiar ) breakdown company brought her car back to me, with a diagnosis
from the recovery guy, that the auto box is " fudged "
I have started the car, and in reverse aswell as drive it doesn,t go any-
    where under its own steam.
The engine seems to be making some strange sqeaking noises aswell, but
I will have to have a closer look tomorrow ( they don,t appear to be coming
    from the gearbox )
The cars engine starts and runs well, but I still get the feeling that some-
thing still isn,t right with the way the engine " idles " and how " up " and
" down " the revs are sometimes.
At least I can carry on with stopping the sunroof from leaking and try to
have a look at the not working power steering aswell.
My first priority is to try and figure out why the engine isn,t starting and
running anything like I was expecting it to run and tick over when I put the
    cylinder head back on.
Any advice and assistance would be very very gratefully received as
    usual.
    Vince.

Would you not be better off cutting your losses and buying a cheap 1.1 (or 1.4) manual petrol?
I mean, you have engine/gearbox problems, PAS faulty, sunroof leaking. You can probably get an ok 1.1 for around £500ish.

Also, got any pics of your BX?

1st off sounds like the clutches in the gearbox have gone, don`t get it reconditioned because you`ll be looking at £1200.00.Get a good used gearbox mate.

    Dear Muel.
Firstly, please accept my sincere apologies Muel for my really late reply.
Secondly, we have only just had the Saxo one year and my daughter has
only done 7,000 miles in it, and we paid £ 850 for it. She is really very very
happy with the Saxo ( despite it having broken down quite alot ) These things
are par for the course on cars.
Her last car was a 96 1.6 8v automatic Renault Migrain ( as she only has a
automatic license ) I still had to put a new cambelt etc etc head gasket etc
etc catalytic convertor, heater matrix etc.
My daughter has a long way to catch me up with my cars, the longest I have owned a car for was 24 years, and I have also been driving SAAB,s for
    over 30 years aswell
Lastly Muel, thank-you for kindly asking about some photo,s of the BX, I
think there are some on the Citroen Car Club website
What cars have you had then Muel ?
    All The Best.
    Vince.
