    I've got 266mm hispec calipers, plain xsara brembo discs, and vx220 mintex m1144 pads with braded lines best set up I've had, hut depends how much you want to spend.

    I'm on 266s, braided lines from swampy all round, AP fluid, bumsport drilled and grooved discs & Ferodo DS2500s on the front, the rear is poverty city, standard MC, A048s on the front, 888s on the back

    It's basically insane at stopping

    Standard size brakes are fine even for track use if running a standard powered VTS (probably fine up until 140ish bhp). Don't be fooled by buying bigger brakes thinking they're better as its all bollocks unless your running a high powered car.

    Get some decent lines, fluid (ATE blue or Motul RBF600), cheap discs and some good pads (carbon lorraine are my choice). The pads will eat discs but you can pick them up for a tenner from ECP. That setup never failed on me both on the road and on track. That was with some seriously harsh braking as well may I add!

    On ours we run 283mm Gti6 brakes on the front, braided lines etc with black diamond grooved and drilled discs and F4R pads. Next step would be to get a pedal box whacked in but it stops pretty damn well at the moment so that will probably wait a while.

    As said above though, it depends what you're going to be using it for. The standard brake configuration, set up correctly with good tyres should work pretty well. If you're thinking of starting to up the power though it might be worth the upgrade.

    My setup and costs;
    Xsara 266mm discs and calipers 2nd off eBay £40 posted,
    Braided hoses alround £50,
    ATE super blue racing fluid £20 for 1ltr
    A couple of hours of your own time to 'shave' caliper carriers to fit and bleed new fluid through system.
    Made a world of difference and gives you a lot more confidence?
    Hope this helps.
