Just changed altornator belt

    Just changed the altornator belt and when i start my car there is like a clicking/tapping noise. anyone know wot is could be

    it could be a number of things really
    1 belt to tight
    2 belt to loose
    3 belt catching cambelt cover
    4 dodgy tensioner

    The belt seems a bit lose but you can't tension it anymore

    You've done it wrong or bought the wrong belt.
    You can tension them til theyre over tight.

    perhaps you have the wrong belt mate also what i did was buy a bottom crank pulley plus tention setup and a belt off a vtr and put it on the vts because the 16v tenstion setup is wank

    Did you compare the length of the new belt against the old 1?

    The mechanisms of the tensioner and all that gubbins on a vts do tend to fuck up! When I did mine in the end i levered the pulley with a bar to get the tension on the bolt then did the bolts up
