Brakes Help

  1. #1
Hi, i brought a saxo vtr front brake disk setup for my saxo 1.1 and they came with a clip (i think its a shaker clip or something), I basically do not know how it clips on, ive included pics to help you understand what I mean. So any pics or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the help in advance, Josh.

These are my pet hate on all cars and being a mechanic I come across them a lot lol.
    Basically my method is.
Put the clip in the top (one part in hole of caliper. Other part hooks round carrier).
Then put bottom into the caliper hole.
Place your thumb over this part.
Grap the bit that hooks round carrier. With some flat nose pliers. And hook it round the carrier. Making sure to keep pressure on the caliper part. Other wise it'll flick out.
Maybe not very clear but i dunno how to explain it any simpler lol.

Yh training at college is nothing like a real workshop. Bet all the cars you have to work on at college have no springs. Some do some dont.
You eventually find your own way to do it with experience. When you do it's so nice that you don't have to worry about doing a set of pads with the clip on. Before I mastered it I could be fooking around for half hour trying to get it on. Ask one of the guys at work to do it. They would come over and 30secs later be on. Lol.

Pet hate them springs in drum brakes, many a cut hand!

As for the antirattle, best bet is get one side in, hold it down and use pliers to pull the other side into place. Its a real snug fit

Easiest way to fit them is hook one end in, seat both ends under the carrier then push upwards on the long bit between the two ends and it brings the other clip into place, takes seconds :-D
