Hub to lower wishbone ball joint the hole is oval rather than round?

As above when for MOT play in wishbone balljoint. I don't mind changing balljoint strut etc myself but the garage have come back and said it needs a new strut because of the oval type hole.

Any one had issues with this before as i thought the strut just pinches onto the balljoint so its abit like a clamp it could be bolted and up and done with.

Would a new pressed in ax ball joint which is apparently slightly thicker do the trick?

    Thanks in advance.

best bet is swap the strut imo because it must have worn away the metal from where the balljoint fits into the clamp maybe the pinch nut not being tight enough or something has caused it

struts are cheap I'd just replace it and get the wheel bearing done too

They are easy to change only bugger is if the droplink dont want to play ball

I can change them really easy.

Decision now is the garage has taken the wishbone off so do i pay them to finish the job and do strut or pay them to put wishbone back on bring it home do it myself.

On another note cam do you have a passenger side strut if so i want it.

Paying to put the wishbone back on for me to change later is abit like pissing in the wind i guess the strut is the biggest issue here. My thought was pay for a new one get it fitted drive home change strut job done not all that much lost.

Get them to do the wishbone as its already half done, strut isn't too hard a job just dont drop it on your foot!
