heaters not working?

   i bought my car with no heaters ive checked the fuse (f2?) and it had blown, so i obviously replaced it but it still wont work. i turn the knob and the revs drop a little bit and the lights dim too? i dont know what to do next really appreciate some help thanks
   
   btw the heat does come through after driving it for a while but the actual blowers wont adjust

   Fooked heater matrix possibly ?

   turned it again today and it made a horrendous smell come out the vents! any ideas?

   so is it just the fact that the fan speed doesnt change as it should when you turn the knob? could imdicate a failed blower motor if the fuse is okay. the headlights dimming and revs dropping means its taking power which means the first point of the chain would be the motor itself.

   okay so how would i go about changing this? i dont have a haynes manual for this car unfortuantley , would it be simpliest to get one from a scrappy?
