I'm assuming sticking an ABS master cylinder on wont matter since it would need to be connected to an ABS Unit in order for the ABS to kick in - since mine is non abs and will be operating purely mechanically does it matter if I fit an MC which was originally on an ABS car?
23mm master cylinders - does it matter whether its ABS or NON-ABS (my car's non abs)

#2Sure it matters.
Think abs is 2 port anyway and non abs is 4 port. -
#3Cool cheers dude - can anyone else confirm 4 port is non abs? Thanks in advance
-
#4vts is 2 port
furio 1.1 etc is 4 port
vts has abs
furio 1.1 doesn't. -
#5This is where it gets interesting as mine is a VTR but has had VTS engine fitted and is non-ABS. Will check how many ports mine is as standard. Just ordered some 266mm hdi calipers so looking to upgrade but now thinking I might have put myself in a bit of a bind?
-
#6when i fitted a 16v to my vtr i left the vtr m/c etc in didnt bother upgrading to abs no point really tbh as abs pump will just take up bay space
4 port is non abs and 2 port is abs so if you have a 4 port which you will as you dont have abs pump also you can get uprated m/c for non abs so 23mm 4 port m/c is what you need -
#7I have 266mm brakes on my furio smallest mc. Its fine but i would like the 23 master cylinder for that bite in the braking point. The 4 port 23mm non abs mc's are hard to find however.

#8Found some 4 port 406 coupe MC's on eBay - will these fit? Most of them don't seem to have their reservoir.. Blah this is turning into a mini mission
-
#9yes they should fit - care though as there are a few types. Post a link here if you want and we can advise.Quote:Found some 4 port 406 coupe MC's on eBay - will these fit? Most of them don't seem to have their reservoir.. Blah this is turning into a mini mission
IIRC there's a 4 port 23mm for sale in the for sale threads here on saxp at the moment (by Mikol). Have a search. -
#10Yeah replied to milols thread and pm's him but he's not got anything at the minute..
http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_od...inder&_sacat=0 - most look to be ABS
are there any other 23mm non-abs 4 port MC's on any other vehicles which will fit and aren't valued at more than £35-£40?

#11PM this seller and see if it's 4 or 2 port:

#12Messaged that guy about 3 hours ago, just sent a follow up MSG saying 4 port = non abs and 2 port = abs..Quote:PM this seller and see if it's 4 or 2 port:

Thanks again dude! -
#14C'est la vie

#15So is life,
I searched for one for ages emailed various sellers some dont have a clue if it is abs or not, also need to find out the size of the mc. -
#16Be careful with 406 ones they tend to use a larger union to fit the pipes!!!
Most Saxo are 10 x 1
And a lot of 406 are 12 x 1 -
#17nice one swampy, I think I'm just gonna take a back seat on the MC for a while and wait til one comes up. I'm starting to get the impression that if I'd just bought a regular VTS then I wouldn't be having this problem but hey hoQuote:Be careful with 406 ones they tend to use a larger union to fit the pipes!!!

#18I don't think its much of an issue, i run 266mm on a furio master cylinder which is the smallest of the lot, cam on here has 283mm running on standard mc. I think the vtr mc is bigger than the furio from that perspective i think it will be fine. I've been running my 266mm setup now for years had no issues.

#19306 s16 is what mine is i think thats a 4 port 23mm
-
#20eyup barwell - paul the 6th from sv forums mate... I'll have a look on eBay buddy. The jist of it is I'm not specifically after a gti 6 or a 406 MC, I just want a 4-port non abs 23 mm MC. Turning into a bloody mission!

#21ellloooo so theres another orger with one of these french cans
lol how long have you had it ? looks like you'v been getting on with the mods already
my master cyclinder was a right wank to find, ended up buying a refurbished one, make the 266 setup pretty awesome though with decent pads and disk's -
#22is there someone else from the org on here like?
Got the car home from stevenage literally 7 days ago buddy. Absolutely love it. Pics below. Yeah I'm gonna keep my eye out for a 23/4 MC - not in a big rush right now, got winter to get through and not going back to the ring til april.
welding this tomorrow
Gonna get a bit more progress and then start a thread documenting it all but so far it's:
VTR with VTS engine transplant, pro-tect 4-2-1 manifold, powerflow full decat system, GMC cams, some kind of airfilter, OMP upper strut brace, -60mm eibach springs and peugeot 106 gti wheels in stupid red colour.. Also got the vtr alloys in the garage ready to go on once I've had them powder coated (cascoatings.com £1/inch + vat so for 4 wheels it'll be £67 doing).
Just ordered bucket seats, harnesses, cold air feed, new clutch and service items yesterday (bought a VTS box from a guy on here for £40, hoping to fit in next week or two). Can't wait to get it on track

#23Makita cordless. Good choice.

#24No dont think so they all think saxo's are crap, obviously never driven one
lol talk about fast moving, did you do the vts conversion ? your hole looks pretty rugged
rofl
thinking about doing vts conversion next year when im 21 and cost less insurance wise, mines fairly standard at the moment, mine stripped but with carpet, straight through, strut brace,266,23mm MC with stainless lines from front to back, cant afford buckets yet, picking bilstein group n's up tomorrow and new rear beam hubs and mounts next friday, just had 2 drive shafts as well, nearly all the suspension components have been changed in the last year as well as most of the bushes for power flow or similar -
#26I bought it with all the mechanical bits on - all I've done is emptied out the furnitureQuote:No dont think so they all think saxo's are crap, obviously never driven one

£800 including a load of extra bits (angel eye lights, vtr alloys as it's currently got the 106 ones one, the catalytic convertor and some other bits). Admittedly it was a cat-c write off in 2007 but I can't see any significant repairs to the bodyshell in the engine bay, under wings or anywhere round the rear, but for what I'm gonna be doing with it, it's perfect. Woulda been a real shame to buy a minter and then strip it/beast it round track.
And fack me it absolutely flies. 2nd fastest car I've ever owned. The first was a 2.7 twin turbo S4 re-mapped to 320bhp but this is miles more fun to drive over that one
