Ive searched the forums a few times but not really helped much as the things suggested ive changed and sadly there has been no difference.
Anyway let me explain, For the past year or so ive had this strange rubbing sound coming from the front of the car, i cant explain where as it seems to be centralised maybe the left front. Its very hard to tell (which is as annoying as the noise itself).
Its gets really loud when im turning to the left slightly, perhaps a nice sweeping bend in the road, but i can hear it for the majority of the time im driving. I can hear it from around 20mph to around 70mph (after that engine revs kinda drown it out).
It can only be described as a rotational rubbing sound (ill try and get a vid/sound clip of it if u need to).
Over the past year, general maintenance of the car has lead me to change the following:
Disks and pads
drive shaft
wheel bearing
cv boot
and was told CV joint was fine.
It just passed the MOT (if there was something obvious it would have been picked up right?).
The past month or so ive also started to hear a knocking sound while braking. Ive had my pads and disks checked (only 2 months old - had them done just before MOT along with a new wheel bearing).
The noise is still persistant and seems to be getting louder unless its my imagination.
Could anyone offer some advice as to what it could possibly be?
It almost seems as tho there is pressure being applied to something rotational (maybe drive shaft) causing a rubbing sound?? but the tracking is fine, it doesnt pull to the one side when i brake, it doesnt pull while driving... my wheels are balanced. So im at a loss as to what it could be..
Im coming to a point where i want to change my car but dont feel confident in selling it while there is an unsolved problem, and part-ex will give me next to nothing for it....
Help please :/
