has anyone seen a engine conversion done with a citreon xantia v6
as its auto will it fit a vts gear box
  2. #2
Sounds like a complete nightmare and will a V6 physically fit in the Saxo's engine bay?

i havent measured it yet but been offered one for 100 but its got a coded keypad so i cant hear it run. so i have been thinking what ignition i can use off a diffrent engine its 3L 190bhp and would sound the *******
  4. #4
I very much doubt it will fit and if it did, it would cost £££££'ssss! Not worth spending that amount of cash when you can turbo/supercharge a vts for less.

i was thinking about a rear mounted engine in my boot as i can fab something at work to fit it but i have never seen a rear engine conversion done with a rear tersion bar and i am in the process of superchargeing my vts but it doesnt seem worth it if you can fit a 190 bhp engine in as standard

Jesus mate you aint making life easy but I have seen a few rear engined Saxo's most off them have had bike engines but more recently I have seen a Civic engine fitted but they have coilovers mounted into the engine framework rather than a standard torsion bar system.

The cost for these conversions are around 5k so that gives you an idea of the expense involved.

The weight of the v6 would surely ruin the handling either front or rear mounted.

I'd stick with the supercharger route.

i think i have been watching to much drifting i want to rear wheel drive my car
but i want turbo as most cars take i have owned have been turbo and now i am bored of the power of my car and the nitrous is good but to much to keep getting it filled

You'd need to create a rear sub frame, sort of welded into a roll cgae, it would need to have independant suspension mounts aswell as you wouldn'r be able to use the t/bar... rear wheel drive, rear engine saxo would handle like shit! infact I don't think it would handle at all lol... the wheelsbase is simply too short and the pan is not wide enough for stability. if you could run the power to the front through a differential then it might be better but a bit difficult!... I'd get a subaru engine and then weld in a frame to hold the supension and 4wd setup, then flare the bodywork to cover the wheels lol... monster!

i would think it would be easier to fit a battle ship engine into the engine bay lol im sure a 2.0L turbo from forinstance maybe a gtir ive thought before but then stopped thinking and thought it belongs in a gtir cuz they are sex!

i was thinking of cutting the rear hubs off the tersion bar and getting the machine shop to make some sort off adapter to weld back on the v6 hubs to the rear tersion bar cut the boot out weld in braces and just mount the engine the gearbox i could sort out after but i could still use the car work as i am doing it

Wouldn't work as you'd have to put the driveshaft through the trailing arm... which is pretty much impossible!... you'd need independant mcpherson style struts (same as front)... it'd be like the V6 C2 in fast car ages ago (the only reason I bought it lol)

Someones doing a TYPE-R engine conversion, RWD, rather do that
  15. #15
sexual!... I know of a space framed rear engined turbo 1.9 205 gti ax nearing completion.... 1/4 miles only lol... if it ever gets wired up

its the cost of the r type engine thats the killer thats y i was looking for a cheaper option as the v6 is only 100 pounds i will upload some pics of how far i have got with my supercharger conversion tomorrow as i have just reg with photobucket if its crap i am going to look at the v6 when i looked at it it didnt look to big it just the gear box i could make a bell housing but i need an old vts box

there has been a xantia turbo engine dropped into a saxo before!! can you afford to throw one in there though. this topic has been discussed neumerous times mate use the search buttom!!
  18. #18
by the time your fully finnished converting the V6 into the saxo, you'd have spend type-r engine money.

hi i have looked at a xantia turbo at the scarpyard but it smoked i think the guides or the turbo had gone he said if he gets a good one he wants 100 for it but that was about 4 weeks ago and he hasnt phoned me yet i think there abotu 160bhp sandard and 8 valve so sould be cheap to get fixed as i cain my cars so the engines dont last long lol

i am a fabricater as a job anyway so fitting it wont cost anything its just getting the right engine and i have ful use of the factory after work and week ends
  21. #21
    Like so.....

  22. #22
    thats very sexual ........ *urgles*

...... and then god graced the wee citroen with power.........

It makes you wonder.....did they nick that idea from the ARIEL ATOM ? such a little BEAST !
  23. #23
It is pretty nice but I'd go for a lightweight and revvy bike engine with a couple of turbo's bolted on.

It should kick out some serious power to weight ratio's.

    Anyway in the real world......

go to link you will see my supercharger with the mod in the front panel
i have had to take the charger off the car to sort out the pipeing i have to weld a tube to the plate on the charger but the tube is right up the front bumber so i am going to cut a hole each side and mount a intercooler or i bit of alloy tube for now then put it all back in then test it i am going to make a circuit that will activate at a voltage point to fool the map sensor and fuel it with a adjustable regulator and a fifth injector but i need a a/f meter but i can just disconnect the belt when not in use

Keep us updated with the progress then

  28. #28
