Car still won't start!

Right i have spark and fuel priming going to the injectors. All the earths are on correctly. Everything is plugged in. Cranks over. But won't start!?

    Any ideas?

The ECU is supposed to be unlocked. . could that be the problem?

check wires on starter motor mate, that kept cutting my immobliser in because of spade corroded and broke off. but thats an s so dunno if wiring same but worth try, or push big red button
  3. #3
If its sparking and pulseing the injectors theres no reason why it wont start
  4. #4
Have you taken the imbolisser out from under the dash as that could be the problem!
  5. #5
He said the pump is priming so don't push the big red button but if it was an immobiliser issue it wouldn't spark I'd lean more towards checking the crank sensor

Excatly! Thats why i can't figure it out. Done everything i could possibly think of

it is, i've checked all four, all sparking fine

It wont pulse the injectors and spark but not fire lol

    Hows the timing
  10. #10
Well it seems it is :/ Only other thing i can think of is the injectors aren't working perhaps? I fiddled about with the coil pack order thats made no difference.

Timing should be bang on! everything lined up at tdc when it wasn't in the car. Really have no clue what else it could be now!

EDIT: Just noticed that the battery light on the dash in very dim? Not sure what that means and if that could be stopping it fire somehow.

    you tried bump starting?
  12. #12
Have you checked if there's fuel coming out of the rail? If there is fuel there and spark it should fire have you tried another crank sensor as I stated before?
  13. #13
How have you checked for fuel and ignition? Have you done some work on the car and now it wont start?

If battery is low it could well struggle to fire, but that could just be because you've been cranking it for a while.

Is crank sensor plugged in / working? Wont fire without crank sensor in.

No. That was my next thing to do today but i'm not going to have time. But tbf i wouldn't know how to check :/
And there shouldn't be anything wrong the with the crank sensor, it worked fine on the old engine i had in there. But i thought if the crank isn't working it shouldn't spark? or is that wrong.

Checked the spark by earthing it on the block and turning it over. and fuel i un-done the fuel pipe slightly into a bottle and it was being pressurised so can't see anything wrong there.

And i put the battery on charge over night the night before yet the light was still dim which is a bit worrying. . :/

Have you had the engine out?

If so, make sure you plugged your injector loom back in correctly!

Engine change mate. And pretty sure it's plugged in right, only one plug at back, surely only way one it goes in right?

I'm not 100 percent but I'm guessing injectors inject the fuel so if the fuels gettin there but the injectors aren't working correctly the fuel still won't get into the block? Guessing at this point though and sensors are iffy things sometimes its just there time the only way to test it would be put it on someone elses car and see if there car fires with it before replacing it but as far as I'm aware the crank sensore tells the endin when to fire so if it was off fireing at the wrong time it wouldn't start a bit like the timeing I could be wrong with the exacts of what things do but I'm almost certain that's right

Right sorted the dim battery light, turns out i was missing a small bit of wire from the alternator which i've sorted.

So now i really don't know what to do, the fuel is priming and getting the rail, the coil pack is generating spark, all the sensors are plugged in, every light is on the turn of the key inside.

I now have no idea what to do next? any other ideas? Today i've tried different spark plugs and a different coil pack and a spare crank sensor but it still won't fire

Come to mine get my spare coo lock that goes with the loom and you could try my Ecu! Plus I got a new number

start with the basics and go over them again

    1) check the coils are sparking the plug
    2) remove the fuel pipe at the rail and crank it over into a bottle..if its getting feul squirt out thats fine
    3) remove the injectors and see if theyre releasing fuel when the engine is cranked over and rail is connected back up

if all of the above are happening it should fire unless the timing is out

or if the earths arent connected up right and the spark isnt strong enough

Done all of the above, but just to make sure and i'm not missing anything, there are only 3 earths right? Two on the gearbox and one of the chassis?

Does it fire up if you use a bit of Easy start squirted into the throttle body?
Try a bit of a clean up of the crank sensor plug connections

Don't know mate, don't have any to even try.

Cleaned the crank sensor as well, even though its only a couple months old.

Just rung my old man he said take the plugs out and drop a bit petrol underneath them to see if it will fire slightly so i know if its sparking right. not sure if that will work though, he only does old school motors really.

    it will fire

    try it and report back
