#2need to read the faq's
and some prog threads and advice threads
itll give you the basic info..then you can come back with questions that can be answered..atm the only one i can asnwer is..there are better options then daskek..it wont be cheap..and needs to be wired in by a dastek dealer...or someone who knows dastek..same with mapping -
#3I have read quite a few with them and a lot of mixed views on the matter. I think you know my friend Glenn smith Are you the lad who does flocking?
-
#4yes mate

post up your budget...we'll move from there..some old thread on here now could probs do with updating again -
#5All I need to order now is decomp plate which I have rang ferriday and there sending me a request on PayPal to pay. Whilst I have the head off was going to drop a piper camshaft in is it worth it? Going to do timing belt whilst in bits also and it's basically the ecu and injectors. Trying to do it cheap as I can really I know it's not the best but all I can afford at the moment. I only bought the car on Monday night it's all striped ready for parts
-
#6if you want to do it cheap there's no need/point of a camshaft really
search my progress thread and give it a read...its a good read for a budget build..its far from the best..but itll give you some insight
and help you to where the costs are and possibly where you can save/save you going wrong -
#7iF YOU ARE RUNNING LOW BOOST --THEN WHY ARE YOU LOWERING THE COMP LEVEL --THATS YOUR FIRST WASTE OF MONEY .
skimmping on the ecu side is not a good idea1 user thanked this post: -
#8cant be that low boost if your needing to lower the compression. what headgasket are you going to run?
i think saving for a proper ecu will be a better idea. though i suppose with regards to the engine, a vtr lump can be picked up for like £100 so not a big one if it melts something. -
#9sack off the decomp. Waste of money for what you're after imo. Two headgaskets (or even leave completely standard as above - if it blows, simply replace the engine complete).
Use the money you've got from the decomp plate and dastek to buy a second hand "proper" ecu - predator would be ideal here. You can pick up second hand omex's for around £500 and pred's for around £350. Easily your better option. -
#10Ok guys thanks for your help. I think I might just do away with the decomp plate buy a 1.4mm head gasket to be abit safer then save for a predator. Sure I saw one for sale on here will follow it up. Cheers
-
#11sorry to hijack, but what boost pressure to you run blackie and what comp ratio/decomp plate fitted?
-
#12I'm running 15psi
Don't know the exact compression as I couldn't find the info on the 3plug compression ratio as standard
So I just raised it a bit from my old set up that was a little too low, it drove great on boost but wanted a littl more off boost, so made a few changes with the cr and dropped the rallye inley
Currently running 2x 1.5mm gaskets from gmc
