Tach wire

Hi guys ok installed a viper 5701 alarm in my saxo and don't think i have wired the tach wire correctly. Iv wired it to the + coming from the alternator. The tach wire is needed so when the remote start feature is on the alarm knows the engine is still running. So far im in the middle of programming it but cant learn the tach as i suspect iv'e used the wrong wire. I heard the tach is also located on the digital dial loom but is this correct?

Also while im at it, the remote start harness came with ignition 1 and ignition 2 wires but some cars only have the one ignition wire. Is this the case on saxo's? as i have not wired the ignition 2 wires.

    Thanks

    anyone know?

yes - tach wire is a pulsed output found on the wiring behind the dash (or from the speedo drive iirc). The alternator wire is simply "live".

Thanks Ross and for ignition 1 and 2 does a saxo only have one ignition feed?

    Thanks

Are you sure the wiring isn't meant for ignition POSITIONS 1 & 2? That would be normal.

    Edit:

Here is a screenshot of my notes for the heavy gauge wiring for the remote start.

When testing i could only find one ignition wire. However if all the ignition wires have to be connected (ignition 2 ones weren't installed) then their is going to be far too much draw to start the car from one feed let alone enough space to tap the wires to one lead. Installing one was a challenge as their is no play on the leads feeding to the ignition barrel.
