Spoiler painting

Not sure where to post this but never mind

I've recently picked up a spoiler for my friend car and it needs painting the right colour

Can any body tell me the right sandpaper grades to use? Don't want to leave any scratch marks

    Cheers

Don't use sand paper if it only needs a colour change use a grey scotch.

Yes scotch and sand paper are miles away from each other. I don't know about clear coat from a tin because I paint it a whole different way from every one on here.

I left the spoiler at my friends last night he decided to sand it with some 2000 grit wet n dry just as I went out to get a scotch to do it as Bedford said but he's now rubbed it all with said sandpaper what's best to do now still just paint and laquer? Or annother route entirely?

No just make the surface dull so the new paint sticks to it. You want no shine at all after you finished rubbing down.
