Saxo West Coast .. A few questions.

  1. #1
Hi boys & girls, I've just got a MK1 Saxo (westcoast) which has been sitting for a year. It started 1st time with jump leads & runs fine but there's a few questions I have so would be grateful for anyone's input.

    1) When running there's a fair bit of white smoke coming out the back of it, i put this down to sitting for so long but I've had it running outside for an hour aswell as a mile drive too get it back to mine.

    2) Temp gauge is working fine, fan is cutting in just after halfway on gauge however after its up to temp the little red dot on top of gauge is appearing but no overheating etc.

    3) When revving I can hear a sloshing water sound from behind the dash, the heaters are not actually working on any setting but when driving you can clearly feel hot air.

Anyone have any idea's on any of the above problems? Thanks in advance

White smoke from exhaust is probably condensation, the cooling system wants draining flushing out. Then refilling with fresh 50/50 mix of antifreeze/water then bleeding(hence sloshing sound)=air lock.

the white smokes may well be consensation. Since it's been sat around doing nothing i'd give it a good service though! Or at the very least an oil and filter change! Oh and plus one, i'd guess at an air lock in the coolant system.

Sorry, the point i was trying to make was that it could do with an oil change. The rest was due to the OP being a newbie to the forum. Going off a complete strangers advice is a tad daunting, especially on forums where people are often dicks for the fun of it (not this one for the most part though). It gives a bit more confidence when a few people agree! Although I have to say I've always found stevo67's advice to be spot on.
