overslow vtr

  1. #1
so i got a phase 1 vtr with the single plug silver top, i know the valve stem seals are gone which i need to do, but its soo slow after 60, i mean like it wont go over 90, just wont pick up with foot flat, it has a 1.1 box so it is revvin a bit more than it normally would, but i would have though it should still do more than 90 without runnign out of power haha, anyone have any ideas? or maybe would the valve stem seals cause this? its standard apart from a sportex back box and a filter

Should easily get past 90, 1.1 box on a 98bhp vtr starts to struggle at 110ish. In need of a good service? Also valve seals being knackered wont help

sorry wasnt very clear, is a 90bhp silver top but it seems to strugle after 60 or 70 and doesnt want to go past 80 or 90, had a service with plugs, and head gasket 2000 miles ago, but stupidly i left the valve stem seals out as at the time they were fine haha

is the power down through out the whole rev range, and will it rev out?
  5. #5
usually power in the lower revs, seems to go after about 4k ish and what do u mean by rev out?

only thing i didnt do is change the fuel filter, thinking it could be worth while changin? where is it located?

Passenger side under the side skirt, near the rear, cant miss it

cheers buddy. think it could be worth doing, maybe its clogged and causing me some problems? i do run the fuel right down quite a lot so probably has sucked some crap through

think its fixed put standard airbox on and it gets to 100 easy enough now then dies a bit, but this seems normal to me for a 90bhp vtr on a 1.1 box? all this was on private land of course
