Well lad's, just brought the saxo for the NCT test tonight and it failed on emissions!! I had trouble getting it to pass at the start of the year aswell and i spent hundreds on it to try sort the problem, i got new lambda, cat, all new sensors, changed inlet manifold, put on standard airbox, changed ECU, tried adjusting the timing on the pulleys, even tried higher octane petrol and other emissions stuff and still kept failing, 14 times i had it on the emissions machine before it passed
the last thing i changed was the plugs, there was iridiums in it but they were BKR8 and found out was meant to be BKR6 so i threw in a standard set and brought it back and it barely passed, the lad had to keep it reving for about 10mins for the emissions to come down, so since then all i did was put a decat on which i changed back last night for the test so theres only about 50miles on the cat since last test!
Its failing on the CO reading on high and low idle, limit on low is 0.50 and its reading 0.58 and high limit is 0.30 but the car is reading 0.66.
What i found everytime i had it at the garage checking the emissions was that if i bring the car for a spin and really reddin it out to the last and come back and put it on the machine straight away the emissions are absolutely perfect, they couldnt actually go any lower the lad in the garage said, but leave it idle for a while or turn it off for a while then start it and check again there gone back up.
im on the verge of just gettin rid of the car im so sick of it at this stage, ive spent more money trying to get the emissions right than i spent buying the car!! has anyone any ideas as to what it could be before i have a breakdown!!??
