any ideas as to what it could be? The fuel injection isn't priming either.
gearbox swapped over, now starter motor clicks but won't start. Battery fully charged overnight & was fine before swap..

#4Both earths on gearbox?
-
#5Yarp @ Both earths, after the 2 terminals on the battery I moved the camera to look as I've just fitted the 2nd larger earth which goes straight to negative terminal..
Just don't wanna buy a battery only to find that the problem is still there.. I thought the Fuel Injection would have primed even if the battery was dodgy? It was fine up until a week ago when it was last drive, but then we have had really cold weather & frost over the last week so could have tipped it over the edge.. -
#6ffs I'm working away for the rest of the week, wanted to get the car down off the axle stands and back on it's wheels so nothing gets stolen while I'm away..
carparts4less have batteries for £30-£60, but then won't get delivery til tomorrow = no good, halfrauds are selling batteries but they start @ £60.. But then it might not even turn out to be that anyways. And I can even use my jump leads 'cos the car is parked right up against the garage door on my driveway. -
#7Have you put the wires on the starter properly. I replaced gearbox and didn't tighten a wee nut for one of the wires and it just clicks like mad as the electrical current is arcing because its loose.
-
#8my friend helped me do the whole gearbox change, he took the starter off and put it back on again - I'll have a look in a minute.
Thanks for the tip off - called my other mate (kev the practical bastard) he said to get the shafts and wheels back on, get it down on the ground and try rocking it back and forth in case the starter motor is struggling to engage slightly. If that don't work then try new a battery.. -
#9You cant borrow a battery or try getting someone to jump start you? As that should tell you weather its the battery or not you tried cracking the starter motor with a bar???
-
#10thanks for the reply dude - as I'm working away for the next 2 weeks I wanted to get the car back on its wheels so I could move it/try bumping it etc. I was about to do the gearbox oil, refit the wheels and then try bump starting it, only I don't have the 8mm gearbox oil key so threw all my tools in the garage and shut the door on it til I get back.
Was seriously pissed off, but the more I think about it I guess a new battery will sort it if jump leads or bump starting don't work. I'll report back. -

#13Back from working away, I've got until it gets dark (about an hour) to try and figure this out..
Just realised the fuel injection isn't priming at all? -
#14and does this look right on the starter motor?
