had my car on ramps because mot is due end of month . and spent £250 on welding alone today , its the mk1 vtr , both sills have totally gone not just a little hole im talking 9 10 inch plates have gone in , underneath the ecu a massive 9 inch plate again and 3 inch wide , and offside front were the plastic couling is another 13inch plate has gone in , not joking about this either , and on the back were the back wheels are each side 2 plates again because the back is rotted , only 2 inch holes on each side , if i didn't love this car so much i would of scrapped it but 13 hours of welding today its finally done!!! oh yeah aslo my back axle is nearly gone there is play in the wheels you can move them up and down a bit
booked in for mot on sat see how it goes poor saxo atleast the main things are done its just whats said about axle! i will post pics tomorrow of welding are these common for rusting in these places ?

#5my vtr got an advisory on the rear beam. Dont no how bad it was but when i went through my old mot certs i had advisories on the rear beam for the past 4 odd years lol. You might get away with the beam, if not get it refurbed, seeing as you have done all that work on it anyway.

#9Underseal is your friend and checking it regularly which most don't or you get the odd dopy individual who jacks on the cill and puts a big hole in it. I would have welded it for you cheaper than that though a lot cheaper

#11get it wax oil'd or similar, under seal is crap and just dries out and cracks letting the water in wax oil dosnt dry out as fast and stays soft reducing the likely hood that water will get in
