this little chav in a garage today come in thinking he was it! told me a vtr box can go up to 170mph is this true because he also said using a vtr box will be better in a vts? i tried saying not to him but he wasn't having it he new it all he thinks he did

#2Depends on the rev limit you run and the power you have, but no realistically a VTR box is not better when fitted to a S
-
#3didnt think so , or they would of made a vts with a vtr gearing! if it was better
-
#4the vts gearbox is best suited to the vts. The vtr box is "geared" for 170mph yes, but you'll need 300bhp to get there. Most vtr's don't have 300+bhp, so most top out at around 120mph

#5vtr box on standard 6250rpm limit on 195 45 14s I comfortably hit the limiter 140 on the clocks but this was on it and not getting to it if that makes sense (had boost though)

#6Theoretically..... A vtr box, with a vts rev limit will do around 170... Think its actually 168mph
But you would need a fair bit of power to get it there lol -
#7Found the info...
195/45R15 tyres..
Vtr box, 7250 rpm limit (std vts) ..163.6mph theoretical
Vtr box, 7800 rpm limit (common remap).. 176.1mph theoretical
Like said.. You would need either a good downhill run... Or 300+ bhp to get there

#8my vtr with breathing mods flat round rockinghams backing ran out of steam about 123 on clocks on a standard box
id rather run a shorter box hit limiter there but just get there faster lmao
i hav a variety of boxes tbh my favourite on the 8v is an s2 rallye
favorite on my 16v was a 1.4 xsi -
#9[QUOTE=AlexB;6144317] 8v is an s2 rallye
dont they do like 70 in second
? or is that the s1's ?

#10S1 rallye box wont get anywhere near 70 in second on a standard vtr, I think its around 55mph. I changed mine as it was a bit fucked but I also felt it was just too short on my 8v really, quite glad I swapped to another one
