Lightening Flywheel

  1. #1
Well lads, im changing the box soon and goin to get the flywheel lightened while im at it, what would be the best weight to take off without weakening it?

All weight reduction on the standard flywheel will weaken it. You have to decide how much is acceptable.

TTV are frequently used if you want a replacement that's designed for the job

was thinking that alright, can you even lighten it enough to make a difference without making it too weak? Wheres TTV?

The ttv one does not have the locking pin hole in the back of it. Not essential but it put me off buying one

thanks for all the replies lads @ Ross how do i get the club discount?

i think i might hold off and get the proper one then so as lightening the standard doesnt seem the best option...

You'll need a premium forum membership which is £10 a year from the shop: http://www.saxperience.com/shop/premium.php

Once you've got that, you get discounts at MANY places, including Demon Tweeks. There's a specific forum area for premium members, and in there you can get all the details for the discounts available You'll easily recover your £10 membership outlay - just in this transaction you'd still save £20 after spending your £10 membership for example

    re: locking pin

it is not really needed, you just do cam timing etc as you would any other car that does not have a locking pin. i.e. make a TDC mark on the flywheel / pointer on the bottom pulley etc.
