Is it worth buying

    Hi Guys,

First off, sorry if this is in the wrong section, just looking for a few peoples opinions.

My mate has offered me his 2000 reg saxo vtr for £500, it is a clean car with no major bodywork issues at all.

The car has done 86,000 and has a few mechanical issues such as... power steering not working, seems to be leaking oil from somewhere as there was a oil and water mixture underneath the car, a worn bearing sort of noise from the rear when reversing, drivers door latch is broken and the air bag light is on.

    1. Are any of the problems listed major? I work in the parts department at a Citroen dealer so have access to parts and our workshop so I am able to do the jobs myself but don't want to buy the car and it to be a bottomless pit of money.

    2. Do you think that it is a car that would be worth buying at £500? it will be my project car for the moment and will eventually be my daily when problems are sorted.

    Any feedback would be great.

    Thanks
    Ridders

Nope, pas pump needs replacing, sounds like head gasket went then developed a leak. Gearbox is fucked and the door latch can be a pain.

Sold mine in better condition for 250. Steer clear.

My 51 plate VTR is well well used, dinks everywhere, its rough outside. Mechanical sound though. Id be suprised if I sold it for 250 after looking at some better examples recently for sale at £500.

As said, £200/£300 would be better dude
