Throttle body sensor?

   Does anyone have any idea what the sensor on the front side of the throttle body is for? Not the throttle sensor or idle control but the front one with a brass plug on a spring.

   I don't think I have ever seen a brass plug on a spring. on a saxo mate.

   Its a black plastic plug that screws out of the throttle body just above where the throttle linkage is. The brass coloured plunger is behind it.
