Newbie to Saxo Desire

  1. #1
    Hi

My partner has a 52plate desire and brakes are not up to scratch, the pedal is basically floored before any grip is felt.

    Not sure if

FRONT:its the pads that are worn or if its more serious and perhaps brakes need a good old overhaul.

REAR: Handbrake is basically pointing to roof to get any hold.

As I dont have a Haynes manual and am new to this car any advise would be appreciated.

Questions is it pads on front, shoes on back?

    or pads on both?

    Regards
    Buzz

Take it to a garage (or google how to) and bleed the brakes. Brake fluid absorbs moisture after a while which then absorbs air so after a while, they will need bleeding. Unless its gone too far and you'll have to replace the fluid. Thats the cheapest and quickest option and would do that first!

Buy a haynes mate, it'll be worth it's weight in gold as it'll save you a bomb on servicing too!

Bleed your brakes, first call. Second, new discs and pads. I always do both at the same time if its a recent car you've picked up.

Check your disks, shoes etc see if they're totally worn down, possibilty the handbrake needs adjusting, bleed the brakes etc

As said bleed brakes also check the rod on the bulkhead for play just about every saxo I have looked at has had a load of play on there
