gearbox ball joint snapped

   hi there, the ball joint thats welded to the gearbox for the gear linkage has snapped, is this repairable? can it be welded back on? and if so can it be done on the car or does the gearbox have to come out to do it?

   which one? One is on a bracket and unbolts thus is easily changed
