faulty sensors and their cure.

    Dear All.
As some of you may already know, I have been carrying out some repairs to my daughters 99 Saxo 1.4 8v automatic, fitting a new head gasket and also replacing the automatic gearbox.
Back when the Saxo was breaking down quite often. The car used to lose power and cut out. This was cured by renewing the crank sensor. After that when I was doing the head gasket. the Saxo would start and idle really well, until she got to normal operating temperature, she was hunting. This problem was cured by renewing the coolant temperature sensor for the E.C.U in the thermostat housing. After this, after I had replaced the automatic gearbox, the car was starting first turn of the key and idling correctly aswell. However
when I tried to drive the Saxo off of my quite level drive, she was stalling and really didn,t want to restart very much at all, leaving the car almost stranded in the middle of the road. This problem was cured by renewing the map sensor, on the left hand side of the inlet manifold. The Saxo is now starting first turn of the key and without any throttle and is idling correctly and has lots of fast idle now, and she is now running like a littlle french sewing machine.
I decided to share this information with the forum, incase anyone is having similar problems, and I hope this helps a little
    Vince.

All the sensors in there can send the car crazy, and most won't age well. Wait for your bottom lambda sensor reading 94.9%. The cure actually being burn it with fire

In your case, sounds like the saxo was a non runner for a while and started rotting on site.
