Getting the right oil for gearboxes, diffs and transfer boxes can be tricky, so please ask here if there is any information that you need.

What would you recommend for a standard VTS track car. It does get used on the road a little bit but mostly needs to be able to cope with abuse on track. It's a mk1 VTS. Could do with gearbox and engine recommendations please.

    Hi

I'd go for a good 5w-40 ester based oil

Out of those, the ester ones are the Fuchs/Silkolene Pro S, Millers CFS/CFS NT, Motul 300V, Redline and Gulf Competition.

I would use a good synthetic MTF for the gearbox and the Redline MTL, Amsoil MTF or Fuchs Sintofluid are ideal.

    Hi Tim,

Need to get mine done over the next week weeks - so a recommendation would be useful - thanks

    Make: Rover
    Model: 200 BRM
    Year: 1999
    Manual/Auto: Manual > Torsen type b LSD
    Performance Modifications: None worth noting.
Doesn't really get driven hard too often, But i'd need fluid that would take a bit of a beating and essentially take good care of the LSD / Gbox.

    Hi

Those take basically the same as a Saxo, so a 5w-40 or 10w-40 for the engine and an MTF for the gearbox. As you have the LSD, I'd go for the Fuchs Sintofluid as it's a really good oil that meets the GL5 spec, making it suitable for diff use, as well as being a very good choice for gearboxes.
