Huge Leak, help find cause!

  1. #1
Over the last few weeks with the rain, I have started to realise a damp patch in the drivers footwell, but today after being parked on a slight upwards hill and being left for 4 hours ish of constant rain I came back to find this.

The carpet bit under the steering wheel is soaking through aswell and I know the cause is around there.. but has anyone previously had anything similar, common fault in saxos?

window seals or door seals, or sunroof drains blocked. Check the headlining

It is all dry along the roof etc. Like i say, is there any possible way of it getting in like at the bottom of the windscreen area? Im thinking this due to the bit under the steering wheel being soaked!

sit inside of the car whilst someone runs a hose on it and look to see if you can see where its running in from

Mine used to look like this until I got the windscreen replaced the bloke said who ever had sealed it before had done a shocking job.

maybe worth to check the scuttle area under the bonnet, water could be leaking in through the holes or the blower unit

I'm gonna try and sort it this weekend, cheers guys!

Driving to work this morning I had a drop of water run down the inside of my windscreen :s but then i felt along the top of the windscreen and all dry.. hmm!

its either coming from top of windscreen (seal) or sunroof drains are blocked.
happened in my 106 gti, but i didn't just have a drop of water , mine was more like a waterfall and i got soaked everytime i braked or went round a corner.

aerial bases are known to perish and leak water in, which then takes the path of least resistance down to the floor - often along the aerial lead itself to the a pillar, then down behind the plastics.

Can be hard to trace a leak like this tbh, but start with the simple things - pull off the interior light surround and see if you can see moisture.

Cheers buddy, like said will look at weekend.

not sure if you would be able to see the drains by just opening the sunroof, but either way, the drains are in the corners at front (towards windscreen), 1 in each corner and run down your A pillars and out inbetween sill and front arch liner.

Also make sure the drains in the bulkhead where the wiper motor is located are clear and not holding water

Didnt get round to looking for it at the weekend.. The last couple of days it has been pretty dry so thought it wouldnt be getting wet in the footwell.

Just got to my car after work and it was parked on a very slight downhill, to find this which is about half an inch deep when settled.

So obviously the leak is coming from somewhere where the water can be stored and is forced when the car is pointing downwards slightly instead of just a direct leak.. any ideas?
