Manifold heatshield?

    does my 1.1 desire NEED the heatshield on top of the manifold? my friends mk1 didnt have one, mine does

    Dosent make no difference tbh Mate I took myn off when I changed manifold gaskets

    removing them will increase under bonnet tempatures meaning the engine is sucking in warmer air that reduces mpg also makes wiring more brittle, rasing engine tempatures due to top end being exposed to more heat. there are lots of reasons why the heatsheid is there

    Without one fitted you can end up with burnt alternator wiring.

    Will not pass mot without one as its put on as a safety device, I got told when I got my car moted that its better to remove them.

    Mine passed without for last 2 years and nothing was said..

    Yeah ok mate.

    Mine passed last year without a heat shied and he burnt his hand on my stainless manifold.

    I only got told it doesn't pass without one mine passed without.

    it will only fail if it is loose or insecure, if it isnt there, it cant be tested..

    your MOT tester is a jobs worth.

    your car doesnt NEED it. but it is worth having one!
