which current 16v blocks c2/c3/c4 xsara etc will mate to the older P1 16v head

currently running 99 tu5j4 and may need a rebuild, cheaper to just swap heads and ancillaries

which later model blocks will work?

I've got a C2 VTS block with a Saxo 16v head. Be aware that there's no oil return on the C2 block (at least there isn't on mine) so you have to blank off the return hole in the head. This caused me problems with oil "blowing" out of the breather pipe and oil cap - ended up putting on JP4 covers and a catch tank to reduce the problem (didn't completely fix it).
Why not just get your old block refurbed etc.?

Edit: Mines a 2000 VTS so phase 2 body but a real mix-match of phase 1 and phase 2 mechanics - engine included.

oil return wont be an issue, id just run a line to the sump to fix that

my cars the same 03 phase 2 with more mix and match than a bag of pick n mix sweet lol

just worried ive blown the rings and its cheaper to buy a block that it is to do a full rebuild

Having bought 2 "re-conditioned" bottom ends I'd go for rebuilding what you have - at least you know the job will be done properly. 1st one I bought had a bent con-rod - so much for quality control
