Skimming vts head?

  1. #1
Hey guys. As some of you may or may not know, my Cambelt slipped and destroyed practically every valve in the head.

However I have a donor vts sat on my drive. So ill be taking the head from that one and giving to a friend who is an engineer and has access to all machinery for it to be skimmed.

Question is, what machine is best to use to skim the head and what's the very minimum I can take off?

Cheers for any help in advanced.

    Shannon.

No offence mate but if he needs to ask on a saxo forum what machine he needs to use to skim a head, its pretty safe to say he shouldn't be doing it.

Its only like £30 for a proper machine shop with the tools and knowledge to skim the head mate.

Most places use a horizontal mill with a Polycrystalline Diamond cutting head. The minimum you can take off is whatever it takes to get the head flat depends on how warped the head is to start.
