Rear axle goosed but....

Found this while looking around http://www.gmcmotorsport.co.uk/suspe.../prod_608.html

At £42 a side plus bearings doesn't sound bad but how are these new shafts fitted, do you cut the old one's off and press the new one's in, do they fit over the existing pin? I'm not sure how they are fitted... or more to the point, is fitting a garage job?

    Does anyone know?

They need to be pressed into the beam and the old ones pressed out, I beleive it takes a hell of a lot of pressure for them to be pressed so don't know if a garage would even want to mess with it maybe some kind of machin shop?

No worries I had the same problem i ended up buying the refurbished beam with new stub pins from IM axles and then fitting the new bearings to the trailing arms myself, worked out slightly cheaper than buying the full axle just depends what your willing to spend.

Well I think it's time to put the old gal to rest unless anyone here wants her.

51 plate, 80,756, 1.5d, good clean body and with a Bosch fuel system so good for burning all oils. Timing belt and other little bits and shits have been done over the last year..

Would post in the for sale but.... post count

    £175 Wrexham.

last i heard gmc was out of those pins (few months ago)... ring him to be sure.

regarding fitting, i dont think its the amount of pressure its having the right gear in the first place
