engine advice

    ive just bought a saxo vtr an i want to do some things to the engine but dont no what its already had done as it it faster than any 1.6 ive ever drove , it doesnt seem two have a rev limiter, its loud but has a mid box and cat [ s-s] induction kit , so i dont no what else two do to it incase its been done , the car is rapid threw the gears but doesnt seem to have much top end , so im wondering if its had a gearbox off of a smaller engined saxo

    Could have a different box, first step is check the number on the casing providing its not had a sneaky rebuild in a different casing mind. Also check your RPMs at certain speeds, depending on your tyre and wheel size.
    What does it rev to? Standard is 6250 rpm
