knock sensor

    hi all,

So following on from my last thread about the p1327 fault code I now understand that this could me either knock sensor or coilpack. So I have decided to try the cheapest option first which is obviously to replace the knock sensor.

I have had a search but there's a lot of speculation about where it is located. Am I right in thinking its on the back of the block? How easy is it to gain access? Does anyone have a picture for reference please? I have looked in my haynes manual but no pictures unfortunately. Car is an 02 vts btw.

    Thanks

knock sensor is rear of the engine under the intake manifold, on most engines these are located near top of the bore, between cylinders 2 and 3... so at the top in the middle is where you should find it.

its a round black sensor with bolt hoel in the middle (like a donut), with a 2 pin connector on it, it is held in place by 1x 10mm bolt.

rather than buying new parts for diagnosis, have you not a friend with a working coilpack you could quickly rig up to try??

Here. Fiddle to get to with inlet on tbh. As Colin suggested, get a mate to swap you out a coilpack. Much less hassle and more likely tbh - coilpacks are a regular point of failure.

I doubt even the knock sensor is dead if it is the problem, clean all sensors with carb cleaner and try again.
