   I've gathered that the Gates' kit is the preferred timing belt kit of choice for the VTS, is there a similar preferred water pump?

   No idea, but I bought a Valeo water pump that seemed very well made, came with new o-ring and has the newer pump design. Was 26 quid at my local motor factors.
