im changing the springs over in the JP4 and i know a couple people have changed them while the head is still on the block. a couple of questions -

    1. what spring compressor did you use (link me)
    2. what did you do to stop the valves dropping into the block? just make it so the piston was at the top? did you put anything in through the spark plug hole so it was between the piston and valve?

    any help?

    thanks

It's not an easy thing to do and I pent know of anyone on here that's done it, as the 8v heads need the rocker taking off

But you'll need to make your own lever for removing the valve caps and collets, then compress the spring

And remove the plug and stuff loads of rope into the bores, obviously make sure one end is still sticking out, and this should stop the valve dropping into the cylinder

this is the one i have, you can put an air line where the plug goes to hold the valve in place so can keep the head on
