Identifying cams?

   Been a few years since i posted here
   
   Long story short im back in a good old french tin, ive aquired a 106 GTI as a winter run around.
   
   It feels alot laggier low down than i remember my old vts ever did
   
   Once it goes over 4.5k-5k its like it really kicks in and goes
   
   Never drove a cammed 16v so have no idea if its just me being too used to boost lol
   
   Is there a way of identifying if it has any aftermarket cams fitted?
   
   Will i be able to see any markings on them with the rocker covers off?

   any manufacturer that uses the same manufacturer for blanks as Newman will have that though - most of the big names other than Cat Cams - though even old cat cams will too...
