Rattle can noise (like shaking a tin of paint ) a couple of mins after cars turned off

    MK2 VTR, im getting a noise wich iv traced down to the inlet, the best way to describe it is somone shaking a empty spray can

    it happens not long after you turn the car off or pretty much straight away when i lock it ? deffinantly coming form inlet area

    Thinking ICV but iv never known one to make that tpe of sound ?

    its the ICV Mine does the same every time i turn mine off. never heard another one do it before lol

    wtf ahah didnt realise the icv could move fast enough to make that noise , gunna change it it really annoys me

    It makes the noise when it winds back in to set idle speed, changing it won't make it go away its normal.

    So your icv does'nt move..? If a brand new one from citroen still does it and all of my old ones have then I doubt its a problem.

    Remember John all of us have VTRs except you.

    It could just be the car cooling down,mine ticks/pings as it does so.

    its deffo no exhaust tickung from cooling down its a constant rattle for a few seconds

    My MK2 VTR used to do this also, and as people have said, didn't bother me either...

    Myn does it too, it's about 10 seconds when the car turns off, not causing any problems though... right?

    Seems some 8v engines didnt do the noise. w343nnas didnt and mine didnt and idled fine.

    Who cares everyones does it and it doesnt bother them..

    Its like having a drive shaft nocking or a exhaust blow "mine does it but it doesnt bother me "

    Cheers for that helpfull advice, iv never had a 8v that has done it before.

    It Bothers me. Hence making the thread.
