Vts temp?

  1. #1
Just got a vts and the temp sits at half way and barely moves at all. My Vtr used to sit at about quarter of the way up.

Is this normal running temp on a vts or do I have a problem?

Mine sits half on my vts. Never goes higher then half..

Tis Normal, some sit just above half, more likely your VTR had a dodgey sensor, wiring or wrong sensor.

Been driving in the rain, when I was at traffic lights I could see the steam from the rain.surely this is running too hot? I've never seen this before

    Steam from where?
  8. #8
Bonnet, I know it's because of the heat of the engine but I have never seen this happen in and car I've been in

Did you check the radiator level once it cooled down?
  10. #10
Yes, it's at the max level

Check for oil leaks on to mani etc...
  12. #12
Been out and I can't see any oil leaks either. But like I said the temp never goes about half, but it must be hotter

Don't think it's missing a thermostat do you?
  14. #14
    Could always check

No....if it was missing this time of year it would never get to half way.

Do you think it could be a knackered thermostat then or the sensor that's next to the thermostat?

Or any other ideas? I do appreacite the help by the way

If its not overheating and no leaks etc keep a eye on coolent and oil if no lose of either don't worry.

It's normal for them to sit half way and see steam coming off the bonnet in cold/wet days, don't worry about it.
    Mine does it too

Mine hits half way sometimes not much as i have double fans running constant but never had steam from under the bonnet had that when a coolent pipe split

If it steams, check to see if its still got the underbonnet sound reducing/insulation fitted!
  21. #21
No there isn't anything under the bonnet
