Gearstick shaking in 2nd?

  1. #1
When i put it into 2nd and accelerate, there's a bit of shaking/vibrating through the gearstick and it can be felt by passengers slightly through the floor of the car.
Any ideas? i was thinking it could be the gearbox seeing as it only happens in 2nd gear.

    thanks

Yer sounds like gearbox on its way out, mine did for a while then the gearbox died

ive had this problem for a good year or two now though and the gearbox still works fine.

Would i be wasting my money if i changed the gearbox mounts even though it might not even be them? Anyway to check for excess movement?

your saxo has developed Parkinsons bro. :/

yer. try and rock the engine.

New mounts are cheap. It'd be silly not to

ok, so i gave the engine a little rock. It moves, but how much is too much lol? isnt it supposed to move?

Also, what gearbox mount is most likely to wear? battery or rear one?

Both. Lower more so though, upper engine mount from a motorfactors will do then polyflex the lower one unless you want to keep it standard and vibration free. Either way they are cheap and will take an hour absolute maximum to fit

    £100 + for 2nd hand Gearbox,
    or £20+ for mount's.
Know what I would spend my money on first.

PS: Have you checked the oil level in the gearbox.

Did the mount change fix the problem?
