1.4 Fuel soaked spark plugs

  1. #1
Hey guys, not my car but my mates 1.4 8v 206 (TU engine)

I changed his plugs for him about 3-4 months ago, and get a text today saying somethings up, revs itself and feels weak and smells like petrol.
Just got the plugs out and they're wet with petrol, only a small amount.

Now this is because there is too much fuel or not enough air, or the wrong mix, right?

So ICV needs checking... what else could it be?

Also, hes scrapping it soon so just needs it for the next couple of weeks, as its only a small amount, will new plugs get him round for 2 weeks, month at max?

    Cheers guys

EDIT: new search just showed, turning the car on and off a lot (he delivers parcels in it) can leave fuel to sit there?

coil pack and map sensor also could be the temp sensor mate.

Lambda can do this, it has 2 heaters, if one is dead it won't trigger EML and it dumps more fuel into the engine as "safety"

    would also give dodgy idle.

    Just chucking that out there

Told him to run the car for a bit to try and burn the fuel off.

Im pretty sure it would be the short on and offs, hes probably starting his car 20-30 times a day easily, and this has been pretty recently.

    Cheers though guys

    Bump

    I now own this car
    Any ideas?

    Coilpack or plugs? Or both?

I'd guess that a problem with plugs and coil pack would make it run rough.

could simply be worn sensors :o

Ill just get a coil pack and new plugs and go from there
