Ok I have a mk2 vts and was driving around, when I started hearing almost like a whining noise, this happened to be louder when the clutch is down. Didn't think much of it because the noise started to disappear but when driving home I lost all gears then got them back few seconds later, clutch feels stiff and gears feel stiffer than usual. What could problem be? Anyone know a price of it if it was to be upgraded?
Gearbox, clutch or something else?

#2Sounds more like clutch/release bearing.. try adjusting the clutch cable up. And clutch's start for £40 upwards.. but buy cheap and you will be buying twice. -

#3Its eather the release baring as said above. Or if you getva new clutch and it keeps doing it it could be your box. Does it do it when pulling up to a stop?
I have the same problem. Did the clutch and it turns out to be the box.
Its nothing to rush out and fix. Mine even went through an mot. But it will go at some point so it needs dooing -
#4Well I have t driven it. The car has some horrible noise, whenever it is on... But you can get it into gear and it moves...
