Oil staying rather warm!

   Driving home from work nice and gently to warm it all up, have it some beans and the temperature control on the right hand side of the dials stayed above the line, drove sensible again and didn't drop or go back to the line.
   As this happened the engine management light come on?
   Any ideas
   Oil cooler ordered because I got bored

   Low oil level? Borked sensor?
   Any other symptoms? Does the engine smell especially hot when you pop the bonnet?

   Oil all topped up and it's done it twice to me now, just then on the way home and then just before gearbox went.
   Can't really understand why it was staying over the line tho

   Normally the fan kicks in when it goes just over half on a mk2 and will drop done just below and stop maybe the fans not working like a broken wire?

   This is oil temperature not water. Fan kicks in as per? Just down the B roads when I give it beans it will get allot hotter, sometimes it will run rich then lean also
