Engine flooding with fuel

  1. #1
Mk1 Vts 97 71k full service history. Spark plugs changed a year ago.

Twice now the engine has been flooded with fuel and soaked the spark plugs stopping the car from starting.

Why is this happening? I thought multi point injection engines were nearly impossible to flood.

Plug it in and check lambda and map sensor readings

    Is it all plugs?

had a plug in not long ago and lambda was detected. Changed that to a new one.

Map sensor didn't pop up on reading. (worth trying a new map sensor)?

All 4 sparks were covered in fuel.

    could be

how long have you had the car? has it got the right injectors fitted?

seems excessive..may be an ecu fault..if you have a mate whos got a MAP sensor you can try first that would be a plus

if flooding that bad itll wash the bores and cook your rings very quickly

could also be dodgey temp sensor..keeping it in warm up all the time

Had it two years, although it has always run a little rich.
Changed temp sensor for new one not long ago as well.
How to tell if ECU is knackered? Another plug in?
