Engine Noise, Tappets?

   My cars making some weird noises from the engine, well I think its from the engine, it sounds like tappets, sometimes its really noisy and other times you can't really hear it, I asked a few mates and they said the same thing, the noise stops when the clutch is down, would it still be tappets, any ideas?

   Clutch release bearing? Only do it when in neutral or when ur moving in gear?

   Being 8v, you'll find it is 80% the tappets. Easy job if your handy with the tools,
   But the oil level is correct right?
