Dash Problem

  1. #1
    Hi all,

I have noticed when I am driving that my battery light flashes up and then goes off on occasion, also my dials work very intermittently?

What could be the cause of this please?

If the battery light keeps flashing up it means the battery is not charging so may be a problem with your alternator playing up

Alternator charging rate needs checking mate.

What everyone else seems to have missed.

I would suspect a connector on the rear of the dials has somehow come loose.

Thanks Ross - I was thinking a dry join but the car is only 10 years old which is a bit strange!

I will take it out and have a look..

People are forgetting that overvoltage can cause spikes i.e failing regulator

electrical spikes freeze your dials, they are sensitive. especially digital dash models.

I'd be having the dials out to check them anyways

for the record (I like saying that) the battery warning light comes on if there is:

    No charge
One of the phases/diodes have failed (reduced rate of charge and light on with ignition off)
    Over voltage
