VTS Bottom Cooland Hose Snapped Off?

  1. #1
Was having MOT today and the car was left running for a while, the fan kicked in and switched off a few times, next thing there was steam everywhere and coolant pissing out, turns out the bottom coolant hose had come off.

The rubber pipe hadn't come off the joiner though, it looked like the mount where it fixes to the block has disintergrated as the hose was still attached. Anyway, he's going to look tomorrow and order up the new bits for me as I can't drive it, any ideas how much the bit that connects the hose to the block is, and will I need anything else except coolant?

This car is really doing my head in lately.

Lucky it went there and not on the road.

Pipe can be had for cheap and then a case of fresh coolant, shouldn't need anything else...

If it the pipe you can normally just cut it where it has split and rejoin it, aslong as it has not split to far back of corse. Split coolent pipes has happend to me a few times now

Yes that looks like what I need, I take it that's the same fitment for the bottom hose too? As that one says top hose.

No they're different you need the bottom radiator/heater matrix take off for the back of the block I'm assuming?

They break extremely easy as they're only quite brittle plastic and obviously they become more brittle with age.

Also there's 2 different rear take offs.. Early type & late type (the hoses just come off at different angles) not sure if interchangeable.

Most auto factors have them though, between £10-15 I think last time I ordered.
